BUPA acquires disease management provider

BUPA has acquired US-based health information and disease management provider Health Dialog.

BUPA was a founder and is currently the largest shareholder in Health Dialog, and it is now acquiring the remainder of the company's share capital for £310m.

Health Dialog helps people manage their healthcare more effectively by identifying the most appropriate treatment, measuring results and improving the quality of the healthcare being provided.

It is used inside and outside the US by insurance companies, employers, hospitals and clinics, medical professionals and government agencies.

Val Gooding, chief executive of BUPA, said: "We see this acquisition as an important step in increasing our focus on helping individuals to make the best healthcare choices.

"We have been looking at opportunities in this sector for some time and are delighted with this latest strategic development."
